Christian Daily Devotional: Surely He Hath Born Our Griefs And Carried Our Sorrows

Christian Daily Devotional

The Old Testament taught us that Jesus Christ “hath born our grief’s and carried our sorrows: yet did we esteem him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted.” This verse teaches us far more than we will cover in this devotional. We learn that Christ, himself, while suffering in the garden and on the cross, suffered and felt our grief and sorrow.

Jesus knows first hand how we feel when we are filled with sorrow, likewise he knows first hand our grief. Whom can we go to in this life that knows first hand how we feel? Many people can show empathy to us. We can show empathy to others, as we should, but we cannot know first hand their grief and we don’t know their sorrows but we can empathize with them.

But I digress. Since Christ has suffered the pains and anguish of our sorrows and griefs why do we insist on going through our sorrows alone? Why do we grieve alone? Why do we settle for empathy when we can receive first hand help from our Master and our Savior? Don’t get me wrong, empathy is very nice but there is more, there is more that we can receive it we reach out to our Lord who knows perfectly what we are feeling and how we are feeling.

He will help us if we reach out to him in faith with humility.

Daily Christian Devotional – Surely He Hath Born Our Grief’s

Daily Christian Devotional:
Surely He Hath Born our Grief’s and Carried Our Sorrows

This daily Christian devotional focuses on the benefits of the atonement of Jesus Christ. Jesus suffered for our sins and the sins of the whole world in the garden of Gethsemane and again on the cross of Calvary. His dying brought new life for us when he was resurrected.

He suffered for both our sins and for our sorrows. When we sin, we have sorrow. But we have sorrow for many other reasons. We don’t have to live in the depths of despair when we sin. We can ask our Heavenly Father for forgiveness of our sins and know that we will be forgiven. We can also let our wounded soul be restored whole and well again by letting the Saviors’ atonement heal our sorrows. We do not need to carry the weight of sin and sorrow if we let the Lord into our life.

Whether you choose to repent or not, whether you choose to let the Saviors’ atonement help you or not is up to you. It was done some two thousand years ago. It is a done deal that history bears a witness of. Whether you choose to let it into your life or not, doesn’t change the fact that it happened. So take hold of the eternal and endless sacrifice and let it into your heart and soul and be healed. Why try to bear the weight of our sins and sorrows on our own when we don’t have to?

He Hath Borne Our Griefs And Carried Our Sorrows

He Hath Borne Our Griefs And Carried Our Sorrows

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. (Isaiah 53:4)

Our Lord and Savior truly has “borne our grief’s and carried our sorrows” already. When in the Garden of Gethsemane He sweat great drops of blood in agony and on the cross of Calvary He suffered, He bleed and He died for us.

Throughout this whole hideous ordeal He felt the pain of every sin committed by those who have or will have inhabited planet earth. In addition to that, He suffered every sorrow and felt every grief we will ever feel. He knows how to succor us first hand from personal experience.

So I ask ” Why do we insist on bearing our sorrows, grief and other burdens by ourselves?” We don’t have to. We can let go and let God… How do we do that? It’s a simple answer but maybe not so simple in application.

We let our burdens go by realizing we really do have a friend in Jesus and with Heavenly Father. Talk to Heavenly Father in The name of Jesus Christ about our problems, like we would talk to our friends about the problems we might share with them.

Talking to friends usually helps us feel better, especially when they give us empathy. But that’s all they can give is empathy since they can’t have first hand experience as to what or how we feel. We appreciate their empathy.

Our Savior has felt first hand our grief and our sorrows. No one can succor us like He can. So we talk to Heavenly Father about our situation, so that we are on the same page. Then we let go of our troubles and we listen to God and follow the teachings and counsel given us from the Holy Scriptures, having full faith and trust in God to help us out through His Holy Son, our Savior.

As we exercise our trust and confidence in Jesus, our trials, sorrows and grief will be lessened and our spirits will feel lighter and this process will go on until the sun shines brightly on us and we feel the warmth of the sun on our face.
